Emmet County Released Inmates is a private reference, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, free anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the government office that controls the needed file.

The right contact depends on whether the question concerns present jail custody, a past Sheriff movement, a court order, state supervision, or a Michigan prison record. Emmet County Correctional Facility is the only adult detention facility identified in the county’s official local materials. A person may still move to MDOC, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody, so follow the receiving agency when a record shows a transfer.

Use the county FOIA route or the Sheriff’s request-a-report page for an existing booking sheet, release entry, movement log, or booking photograph. A special form is available but is not required under the county procedure. Describe the record, identify the person and date range, ask for electronic delivery, and request an estimate. In-person inspection is available during normal office hours.

Use MDOC for a state-prison release, parole order, final discharge, supervision dates, or an older record that no longer appears in OTIS. Include the MDOC number, committed name or aliases, date of birth if known, sentencing court and case, and a bounded date range. A county jail exit and an MDOC discharge are different records.

The Petoskey field office is the local route for current MDOC parole or probation supervision and for supervision or absconder data that may need correction. Court-derived OTIS errors belong with the sentencing court. The separate Parole / Probation page explains that source split.

Petoskey, MI 49770
Phone: 231-348-1750
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 90th District Court handles misdemeanors and preliminary felony work. The 57th Circuit Court handles felony judgments. Request a judgment, register of actions, or certified court record directly from the clerk because court records do not follow the ordinary county FOIA route. The court file explains the legal reason for release, while the Sheriff record fixes the physical exit.

Use Michigan VINE for a one-person custody check or alert involving the Emmet jail and other participating Michigan custodians. A released result means exit from the reporting custody only. A transfer requires a search of the receiving system. Direct victims seeking added MDOC parole-hearing or decision notices may also contact the MDOC Crime Victim Notification Unit at 877-886-5401.
